VSA Oberlin Acoustics Workshop - Conclusion

I am back in Ann Arbor after having a terrific experience at the VSA Oberlin Acoustics Workshop. In the final three days, there were many more interesting lectures and the projects were completed. To complete our "bridge island" project, George Stoppani kindly performed a modal analysis of our top plate using software that he created, a modal hammer, and an accelerometer:

Joseph Curtin also generously agreed to perform acoustics measurements on my Ole Bull using his impact hammer rig:

Finally, we were presented with some innovative instruments -- in the form of a new "electric violin" and in the form of a new guitar with interchangeable modules:

Overall, Oberlin was a great experience. I am already looking forward to next year!

In the meantime, Gregg is participating in the VSA Oberlin Violinmaking Workshop, and is posting photos from that workshop on the Alf Studios blog!
